Behind the Curtain

I can’t unsee what I’ve seen…
I’ve seen the elders, who should be mentoring and disciplining the young men, instead ensnared and enslaved to their TV screens - and teaching the younger that it’s okay to do the same.
I’ve seen the women, who should be rearing children and seeking God, instead ensnared and enslaved by their own intoxication and vanity-highs on social media, wrapped in trends and attention-seeking garb, and puffed up with vain knowledge.
I’ve seen the pastors, who should walk circumspectly in humility, justice, and truth, ensnared and enslaved by their own lustful eyes - whether in greed and their own kingdom-campus building, on fire for spiritual power-trips and sensations, hidden or caught in online or irl honeypots and entertaining schemes as old as Balaam and his ass.
I’ve seen the musicians, artists, and media, all reflections of culture and times, pervert, delude, and deceive themselves beyond recognition, until only everything God calls sins has become mankind’s entertainment and pastime.
I have seen the fathers deluded, the mothers deceived, the children lost…
And I can’t unsee it.
Every social media reel, every movie, every clip, every song, every pastor’s silly antics, every word they say, every news piece is only a painful reminder of what I’ve seen behind the curtain of our world.
I have lived it and I can’t undo it insofar as I have been a product of the culture and also been deceived.
I feel alone in this.
Does no one else see?
Does no one else hear?
Does no one else understand the painful hypocrisy we’re enacting? The terrible, fiery, chasm between the whitewashed curtain and our hearts?
“Rend your hearts and not your garments…”
